This is a favourite celebration meal of the Parsi community in India. It is traditionally made from 4 different types of lentils (Toor, Moong, Urad and Masoor), and vegies.Here's a fun fact - it is served as a vegetarian dish for weddings but when prepared for a wake Mutton (Goat) is used in addition.

  • 1 kg beef / chicken / goat / lamb (use half this spice pack)
  • 2 cups chopped veggies (pumpkin, kumara, carrots, celery and aubergines)
  • 2 stalks coriander leaves
  • 2 stalks mint leaves

pantry

  • oil
  • 2 onions
  • salt
  • garlic
  • ginger
  • 2 cups red lentils (or half a cup each of toor dhal, moong dhal, urad dhal, masoor dhal)
  • tamarind paste (or ketchup)
